SJW, HF and Loyola 9th grade students spend their 9th grade year in Faith Formation classes at their Parishes or at Loyola Catholic School. Guest speakers, praying the Rosary, attending a Net Retreat, Reconciliation and Penance, Adoration, Stations of the Cross, and celebrating Masses with our class are included in the parish Faith Formation program. Loyola students are welcome to attend all special events.
At the Confirmation Orientation meeting, students and parents receive Orienation Packets and explanations of the two year process leading them to Confirmation in the Spring of 10th grade.
9th graders celebrate the Rite of Welcome which officially starts the Confirmation learning process. Students are blessed and welcomed to this special time of preparation by the faith community at Mass.
In addition to attending Faith Formation classes, 9th graders will attend Mass weekly, filling out Homily Notes to help reflect on the Scriptures and the Homily. Participating in the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist at Mass helps us know and understand our faith, and encourages us to live and love as Catholics following Jesus Christ in our daily lives.
Service to others allows God to show us what He can do through us by using our gifts and talents. 9th graders will serve their families, parish, and community during this formative year.
Choosing a Sponsor and a Saint is discerned and decided over time. In 9th grade, students research and discuss these choices and let their Sponsor and Saint know that they have been chosen by the Spring of 9th grade!
