The Sacrament of Baptism invites you to reflect on your hopes and dreams for your child as well as on the values you communicate in everyday life. These hopes, dreams and values are expressed in the choices you make as a parent, the traditions you foster in your family, and the habits and interest you cultivate in your child. Together, we will help make the celebration of your child's Baptism both an experience of affirmation for you as a Catholic parent and a warm welcome from your parish family.
Schedule a date: To schedule a date for your child’s Baptism, please call the parish office at (507)388-3766 and ask for Fr. Tom Melvin. Except for special circumstances, Baptisms are not celebrated during the Seasons of Advent or Lent. Baptisms at St. Joseph the Worker or Holy Family are celebrated during a Weekend Mass or shortly afterwards. *The registration link will be emailed to you after you contact the office.
Register for a Pre-Jordan Course: If this is your first child, you must complete our Pre-Jordan course in preparation for the sacrament. This course usually takes less than an hour. You may take the course before the birth of your child. The Pre-Jordan course will be offered at St. Joseph the Worker or Holy Family by appointment.
To register, call the parish office at (507)388-3766 or email [email protected].
Select Godparents: Every person being baptized must have a sponsor, traditionally called a godparent. The sponsor or Godparent must be at least 16 years old and a confirmed, practicing Catholic. If two Godparents are chosen, one needs to be a man and one needs to be a woman. Please note that only one pair of Godparents will be listed on the Baptismal Certificate and in the official church records.
